This smoothie (I actually call it a shake because the texture is so thick) clocks in at around 20 grams of protein. Not too shabby, not too shabby indeed. Frozen banana and mango provide a lightly sweet flavour and creamy texture, while spinach, wheatgrass, fresh mint, and chia seeds provide green power and healthy fats.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (250 mL) unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice), plus more if needed
  • 1 cup packed (35 g) baby spinach or greens of choice
  • 1 large frozen banana
  • 1/3 cup (55 g) frozen mango
  • 1/4 cup packed (6 g) fresh mint leaves
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons (20 g) pumpkin seed protein powder*
  • 2 teaspoons (8 g) chia seeds
  • 2 frozen wheatgrass cubes (30 mL) or ice cubes**
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients into a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth, adding more milk if necessary.
  • * I use Omega Nutrition pumpkin seed protein powder. Feel free to use your preferred protein powder.
  • ** I use Evergreen brand of frozen wheatgrass juice.
